Islander Resort is Gearing Up For a Busy Labor Day Weekend

The Lake Havasu City resort caters to boaters wanting easy access to the lake and Five Star resort facilities

Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Aug 23, 2017 – For many residents of the Desert Southwest, nothing beats quality time with family and friends on the Colorado River.

In fact, the 500-site Islander Resort in Lake Havasu City is nearly sold out for Labor Day weekend.

“All of our vacation homes are rented for the weekend, but we have a few RV sites left,” said Bart Wagner, general manager of the resort, adding, “The Islander Resort is the perfect place to relax and feel at home, offering spacious RV sites, vacation home rentals, marina, resort pool and private launch ramp.”

And while most visitors come to Islander Resort with their RVs, the resort also offers 40 furnished vacation homes.

Islander Resort keeps busy even during the hottest months, but in the coming weeks our visitation will change as the weather begins to cool and the snowbirds begin to come south for the winter.

Many of the resort’s guests, in fact, come not only to enjoy the river, but to check out Lake Havasu City’s attractions and special events.

The main historical attraction, of course, is London Bridge, a 187-year-old bridge that originally spanned the Thames River in London. The bridge, originally built in 1831, was dismantled in the 1960’s after it was determined it could no longer sustain London’s growing traffic load. The exterior blocks from the bridge were numbered and reassembled in a new steel re-enforced bridge in Lake Havasu City, which was completed in 1971. The bridge also features its original lamp posts, which were made from melted down cannons from Napoleon Bonaparte’s army. It remains one of Lake Havasu’s primary tourist attractions.

Other local attractions include Cattail Cove State Park.

Lake Havasu City is also home to the world’s largest jet ski competition, hosted by the International Jet Sports Boating Association, which is scheduled for Sept 30 to Oct 8.

Numerous other events of interest to visitors are scheduled to take place in Lake Havasu City throughout the fall and winter months, including:
