VOYAGER RV RESORT WINS THE MEGA PARK OF THE YEAR AWARD FROM THE ARIZONA ASSOCIATION OF RV PARKS AND CAMPGROUNDS
TUCSON, Arizona, May 20, 2019 — Voyager RV Resort, widely considered one of the nicest RV resorts in Equity LifeStyle Properties’ portfolio, has won the “Mega Park of the Year” award from the Arizona Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.
The award is given annually to parks that deliver extraordinary guest experiences as a result of all-around excellence in operations, professionalism, marketing, customer service and industry involvement.
“We are thrilled to received this recognition,” said Geoffrey Campbell, general manager of the 1,800-site resort, one of the largest snowbird resorts in the country.
“In high season, we have over 4,600 residents in house,” Campbell said, noting the resort has well over 1,500 RV sites and park model RVs as well as 225 manufactured homes, a 36-room hotel and 16 casitas, which are essentially doublewide park models.
The resort also leases space to several businesses that provide essential services to Voyager RV Resort guests, including a 300-seat restaurant, a grocery store and other businesses that provide various services to park guests.
“We have our own food and beverage operation, the Voyager Bar and Grill, which is a continuously running restaurant with a full bar,” Campbell said. “On Karaoke nights, it’s standing room only.”
Voyager RV Resort’s amenities include one of the nicest professional softball fields in Pima County, a 9 hole par three golf course, multiple indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools and hot tubs as well as two saunas, exercise programs and classes, as well as an onsite health clinic and physical therapy center. The resort also offers craft shops for ceramics, lapidary, silversmithing; stained glass; glass fusion. Artistic activities include jewelry design, oil painting, watercolors and quilt making.
Voyager RV Resort has also been making many improvements in recent years, adding more pickleball courts and more dog runs while also improving its electrical system and installing a new decorate fountain for the golf course.
“We have also expanded a lot of our clubs, like woodshop,” Campbell said, noting, “There’s always demand for more space.”
Voyager RV Resort also continues to improve its onsite musical entertainment, with bands performing inside a large theater that seats well over 800 people.
“Our concert series for the 2020 winter season is already sold out,” Cambell said, adding that several performers have been scheduled who use their talents to pay tribute to a wide variety of performers, including John Denver, Johnny Cash, Linda Rondstadt, Neil Diamond and Peter, Paul and Mary. Jazz performers are also included in the mix.
“We want to make sure we offer entertainment that’s diverse,” Campbell said.
Voyager RV Resort is currently renovating its 36-room hotel in preparation for the upcoming winter season.
“It’s mostly cosmetic improvements,” Campbell said. “We’re modernizing the rooms with new furnitures, fixtures and equipment.”
The hotel rooms are typically used by guests of residents staying at Voyager during the winter months.
“We expect to have the renovations competed by November 1st,” Campbell said.
