RVing In And Around Sedona
August 27, 2016Go Camping Arizona Receives Award
November 19, 2016One of our member parks was in the news this week due to the growing popularity of their onsite observatory and full-time staff astronomer. Butterfield RV Resort, in Benson, AZ has been offering evening star gazing sessions since 2001. The original park owners were amateur astronomers and built an observatory for their own use. They soon found their guests were so interested in star-gazing they decided to make it open to the public.

Ken Klein, self proclaimed “astronerd” originally was drawn to the RV park in 2012. He began working part-time as front desk staff and had some star talk shifts as well. He’s now working full-time presenting up to two shows per night for up to eighteen people at a time.
The observatory houses a 16-inch Meade University Grade telescope and spending some time looking into the universe has become a popular amenity at this award winning RV park. Each year, they are seeing more and more visitors, particularly during the winter months, from Canada and the United States.
You can find out more about visiting this unique RV park from their website at RV-Resort.com. It’s a lovely southeast RV park in Arizona and the current owners are very committed to your comfort and enjoyment while you are there.
